Called to be ambassadors

Devotional, week 3

“But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage. Though we are slaves, our God has not forsaken us in our bondage. He has shown us kindness in the sight of the kings of Persia: He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, and he has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem.”
(Ezra 9: 8-9, NIV)

We see in the above passage God’s heart towards His people and His plans and purpose. He blesses us with grace and protects us, even when people are in slavery and bondage because of their own actions. He doesn’t leave us, but He lovingly revives us. He revives and strengthens us so that we can build His temple. We are the temple of God, everyone who was born of God. We are called to grow like Jesus and bring the light and life of Jesus Christ into the life of people who have not yet got to know His saving grace. So that His bride, the church - His temple can be built up. We are called to be Christ´s ambassadors in our workplaces and neighborhoods so the society we are in can see the Kingdom of God and His will on earth as in heaven.

Various systems of the nations are corrupted, facing violence and poverty but Jesus said that we are the light for people who are in darkness looking for solutions. Let us bring the light and life of Jesus so that the societies and nations we are in can be repaired from ruins and be built strongly on the love and principles of Jesus. With His power, love and sound mind let us arise to be His ambassadors so that all nations may see His Kingdom and glory and rejoice in His love and goodness.

Let’s pray! Father, give me the courage I need to proclaim Your love and truth to those around me.
