From One Promise to All: Seeing God’s Plan This Easter

Devotional week 13

“The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.’” Genesis 13:14–15

When God spoke to Abraham saying, “Lift up your eyes… all the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever” (Genesis 13:14–15), it may seem like a personal blessing. But it was the beginning of something far greater. Through Abraham, God was unfolding a plan that would extend beyond one family, one nation, or one generation. That plan finds its fulfillment in Jesus, and Easter reveals the full picture

The death and resurrection of Christ show us clearly that God’s love is not limited by tribe, ethnicity, race, or background. As Jesus said, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:32). What started as a promise now stands as an open invitation to all humanity.

God’s desire has always been redemption. To restore people to Himself. To give new hearts. To bring life where there was once separation. But this is where the responsibility shifts to us.

Just as Abraham was told to lift his eyes and see, we are also called to look beyond ourselves. Easter is not only about remembering what Christ has done. It is about participating in what God is still doing.

Easter reminds us that we are not just beneficiaries of the promise. We are part of how that promise reaches others.

Challenge

This week, ask God to open your eyes—just as He did for Abraham. Look intentionally at your environment. Who around you needs to encounter the message of the Cross?

Choose one person. Then ask yourself: What can I do this week, through my life and work, to point this person to Christ?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your plan of redemption that did not stop with Abraham but has reached me today. Open my eyes to see beyond myself. Help me to recognize the people around me as part of Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
