How a noble deed could become a burden when we do it alone

We should encourage each other to be thoughtful and do helpful things. Some people have given up the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer. Hebrews 10: 24-25(CEV)

Paul writes that intentionally supporting and encouraging others in their faith leads to love and good works in their lives, but he also warns us not to give up on the habit of meeting for worship. Through encouragement and support, we are showing people the love of our God.

I want to share a story about how a noble deed could become a burden when we do it alone.

There is a couple in our community who devote their lives to God and are doing many helpful things. One of them is giving out food parcels for those in need.

They are also running a small business to help support the ministry and provide for them financially.

Someone checked in on them after a few weeks of absence from church. The wife confided about the strain on their relationship. Her concern was that she felt her husband needed to focus and commit to the work required in their business instead of getting caught up in small things, such as attending to the needs of those who receive parcels.

She requested that we pray for their relationship’s direction, providence, balance, and restoration.

It looked like they all were well to others because of the love they sowed into their community through their actions.

However, despite Paul’s warning, they fell into the trap of not meeting regularly. It is very easy to think that we are on the right path because of our good work. However, it is vital to meet regularly with people who can keep warning us when we lose focus.

What inspired me was that people in the community missed them and reached out. That one act of kindness led to a conversation that started a process of restoring God’s purposes. We can continue encouraging each other to do good work as we meet regularly.

Challenge

Reflect on how you can actively support and encourage others in their faith and endeavors. Think of practical ways to show love and support to those around you, promoting mutual growth and edification.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we praise you for your faithfulness and unconditional love. We ask for your guidance and blessings on those facing challenges in their relationships and endeavors so that they may find balance and restoration. May we be channels of your grace, encouraging and supporting one another, thus manifesting your love to the world. Amen.
