When I think back over my 30+ years as a working professional, I have seen many styles of leadership. My first boss was not a nice or a good person, so my expectations through the years were measured against a low benchmark. It felt that it was a cultural rite for leaders to be mean, self-centric and dominating leadership through fear. As a young professional, you don’t know better, you assume that the road to success means you need to be tough as nails, and softness is a sign of weakness.
