Lifter of My Head

But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts my head.

Psalm 3:3 [NKJV].

In this year alone, the world has recorded a series of natural disasters, ranging from earthquakes, fires, and floods, accompanied with the devastating loss of lives and properties.

In addition to this, there have been cases of political unrest, especially in the continent of Africa, not to mention the ever-increasing security problems in these regions. It breaks the heart to think and see these things. How much worse will it be for those who are unavoidably in these situations?

Well, the good news is that God’s people are never alone. He is the one who lifts us up from despair, unrest, and confusion. This has always been a comforting thought to me whenever I feel overwhelmed with what happens around me. Like the Psalmist we can trust Him to lift us and others out from every unpleasant situation.

We can take some time out to pray for the countries who have experienced these problems in recent time and find ways to strengthen one another, taking the shield of the Lord and accepting God’s ever outstretched hand.

Reflect

How do I respond to tough times? Do I trust God as the one who will lift me up? Will I accept His hand when he offers it?

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to take your hand as you lift me up from every inconvenient situation.
